The campus plan is based on the site‘s natural topography and contours creating a series of natural platforms around which key grouping of buildings in stages are sited. Phase One consists of the Library, the Student Services / Campus Center Building, and the Classroom, Laboratory and Administration Buildings. This phase is set for completion in 2012 with a construction cost of $120 million. As a key element in the development of the growing region of Kapolei, the new UHWO campus will improve access to higher education for the residents of this area, in addition to providing a gathering space for the entire community.
MEH worked with John Hara Associates to provide the design and documentation of the first phase of buildings on the campus. MEH was responsible for plumbing systems, air conditioning systems and fire protection essentials.
